Finding a vet with that specific experience before it's needed, rather than searching in a hurry once something's wrong, is worth doing early on. Most areas have at least one practice that sees reptiles regularly, and it's a far better position to be in than trying to find one for the first time during an emergency.
Northampton Reptile Centre Northampton Centre's care sheets set out what normal settling-in behaviour looks like for species including the Hermann's tortoise, leopard gecko, corn snake and White's tree frog, which gives a new keeper a reasonable baseline to check against during those first uncertain days. Anything that falls outside that baseline is a matter for a vet, not a matter to manage alone.

Ventilation is where a lot of wooden vivariums are quietly let down. Front ventilation panels, usually built into the door frame, allow airflow without letting heat and humidity escape too quickly, which matters more for species that need stable humidity than it does for very dry-adapted ones. Checking where the ventilation sits, and how much of it there is, tells you a good deal about which species a given vivarium was designed around.
That distinction matters because the two things get blurred fairly often, especially by keepers newer to the hobby who search online for symptoms and end up adjusting husbandry based on guesswork rather than getting the animal seen. Reptiles are also good at masking illness until a condition is fairly advanced, which is exactly why waiting to see if something resolves on its own is rarely the safer option.
